Kinnaur Kailash Trek Cost – Kinner Kailash Parikrama Guide

The kinnaur kailash trek cost depends on multiple factors, including group size, travel logistics, and the time of departure. The Kinner Kailash Trek is a sacred and scenic circuit trek that follows the traditional Kinnaur Kailash Parikrama route around the revered Kinnaur Kailash Shivling (~4,800 m), located in the Kalpa region of Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh.

About Kinnaur Kailash Trek

The Kinner Kailash peak (6,050 m) dominates the skyline of the region and is surrounded by towering peaks such as Raldang (5,499 m) and Jorkanden (6,473 m). The trek offers panoramic views of the Kinnaur Kailash range, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Zanskar and Greater Himalayan ranges on the north-eastern side. The Dhauladhar range separates this region from Uttarakhand to the south.

The cultural fabric of Kinnaur is deeply influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, and the trek presents a rare opportunity to witness the harmonious blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Schedule

The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra schedule is fixed by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Reckong Peo. The yatra is usually conducted in the third week of July or the first week of August, while the Kinnaur Kailash Parikrama is also feasible during May and June.

Before departure, local tour operators registered with the Tourism Department and DC Office Kinnaur are required to submit the list of trekkers to the nearest police station.

Kinner Kailash Departure Schedule (2023)

Kinner Kailash Parikrama departures are planned for:

  • Second week of June
  • First week of September

A minimum group size of 6 participants is required. Tailor-made trips are available for smaller groups willing to bear additional costs. Trek dates are subject to official notifications and guidelines issued by the Kinnaur district administration.

Trail Overview

All three trekking trails pass through remote villages, apple orchards, and vineyards. The village of Ribba is particularly known for grape cultivation and Angoori (grape wine).

The Tangling–Maling–Khata–Gufa trail is the most prominent ascent route. Tangling village marks the last point of civilization, after which trekkers face an 8–9 hour continuous climb through dense forests of Fir and Juniper leading to Government Sarai (shelter).

Many trekkers halt at or near Sarai, camping on alpine meadows overnight. Those continuing must start early to cross the boulder-ridden terrain, the most challenging section of the Kinner Kailash Yatra, before descending back to the base.

Kinnaur Kailash Trek Cost

The kinnaur kailash trek cost for the Kinner Kailash circuit trek starts from INR 20,000. The final price varies based on several factors, including:

  • Group size
  • Pick-up location (Chandigarh or Shimla)
