Itinerary

Day 01: Shimla – Charang

Reception at Shimla and drive up to Charang from Shimla. The scenery along the way is really beautiful and the winding roads pass through Kufri and Narkanda and lead us up to Charang village.  Explore the surrounding area and enjoy the backdrop view of the Phawrang peak ( 6050m) and Raacho aka Rangrik Rang mountain range.

Day 02: Charang

We start from Charang and trek up to Rangrik Monastery. It is a very beautiful and old monastery made out of mud and wood, and it is believed to be approximately 2000 years old. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing time during the day while we acclimatize. We will be spending the night in either homestay or tented accommodation (depending on the client’s needs).

Day 03: Charang – Raacho Kanda

We head for Raacho Kanda from Charang. It is a quite moderate trek and we have to walk on loose rocks and moraines. Dinner and overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Raacho Kanda – Raacho Glacier- Camping at Raacho Kanda

Today we trek up to Raacho Glacier. The climb is a little steep at places. We savor the views of Raacho Glacier and Rangrik Rang mountain. Finally, head back to the camping site and camp for the night.

Day 05: Raacho Kanda – Charang

Wake up early in the morning and we trek back from Raacho Kanda to Charang village.  Night stay at Charang village.

Day 06: Charang – Shimla

Drive back from Charang to Shimla.

  • The trek is rated as Easy to Moderate. While the trails through the villages are comfortable, the ascent from Charang to Raacho Kanda requires walking on loose rocks, moraines, and steep glacier sections, making a baseline level of physical fitness necessary.

  • Yes. Because Charang village and the Raacho peaks lie close to the sensitive Indo-Tibetan border, an Inner Line Permit is mandatory for all trekkers. Raacho Trekkers will handle all paperwork, permit arrangements, and en-route clearances for your group.
