Safety is our top priority, especially during the technical pass crossing. The package includes certified local guides with over 10 years of Himalayan experience, specialized technical climbing gear (ropes, harnesses, and ice axes for the pass rappelling), premium weather-proof alpine tents, insulated sleeping bags, fresh vegetarian meals, and localized trekking permits.
The Buran Ghati Pass Trek is classified as a moderate to difficult trek. While the trail features beautifully gradual ascents through the oak and pine forests of Janglik and the lush meadows of Dayara, the pass crossing day (4,570 meters / 15,000 feet) is highly thrilling and technical. It requires rappelling down a near-vertical ice wall on the Spiti side, making it ideal for trekkers with good physical fitness and a bit of prior high-altitude experience.
Buran Ghati is famous for its unmatched variety in landscapes and its thrilling pass crossing. In a span of 6 to 7 days, you experience a complete landscape shift—starting from the old-world heritage village of Janglik, moving past the pristine Chandranahan glacial lake, and concluding with a steep, adventurous technical descent into the fruit orchards of Barua village in Kinnaur.
The Buran Ghati Trek has two distinct and ideal seasons: Spring/Summer (Mid-May to June): Perfect for adventure seekers who want to experience abundant snow, frozen lake views, and the thrill of snow-sliding or rappelling down the pass wall. Autumn (September to October): Ideal for clear panoramic mountain views, crisp weather, and witnessing the vibrant changing colors of the meadows and forests.
Getting to the Start: The trek begins at Janglik village. Raacho Trekkers arranges a pickup from Shimla, driving you via Rohru to the base camp. Returning from the End: The trek concludes at Barua village in the Kinnaur district. From Barua, our team coordinates the road transport back to Shimla via the national highway.
